To the Ends of the Earth

We are beyond psyched to announce that our new e.p. "To the Ends of the Earth" has an official release date of February 14th, 2012. The record will be out on CD and 10" vinyl, as well as in the digital format. I think I speak for all of us when I say we really poured ourselves into these songs, and we're incredibly excited about how the release turned out. On a personal level, I started coming up with song titles and portions of the lyrics before this band even formed. So it's been a long time coming and it feels amazing to see this project coming to fruition. Big thanks to Jamie at American Enemy for believing in us and helping make this thing a reality. Check his label out, he is doing some really rad things (including recently signing Wells, which features our beloved friend and sixth member Jimmy Lawson)! I'm sure pre-orders will be up and running in the next month or so, and we'll be putting together details for a record release show some time around the release date.

So Stoked!

Deathbed Flyer

So this show is a couple of Wednesdays from now. Come hang out. Deathbed will be on tour from Atlanta and they are an awesome, young band that needs support. Plus it's at Refuge which is always a pleasure. Oh yeah, tonight we are playing the church in Royal Oak with Clockwork and a bunch of our friends. Be there. In other events, layout stuff for the record is coming along, it's gonna look sweet.

Kind of a Big Deal....

We are beyond excited to announce that we have a label partner to release our new e.p. "To the Ends of the Earth". American Enemy Records from Kansas City will be releasing the songs on CD and on 10" vinyl. We are super pumped to work with Jamie and his crew. When I sent him the songs about a month ago he literally emailed me within thirty minutes and told me the songs almost had him in tears. I was pretty much sold right there. The record should be out at some point in the Spring. We are currently putting together layout ideas with some help of an old friend of mine Kris Schofield who does some stunning photography (check out his work at www.istaphoto.com). The first song off the record "Open Wounds" is streaming at the American Enemy Facebook page. Go check that out (a link to the AER Facebook is on the right). I don't know what else we can say other than that we are stoked beyond belief.

Clockwork Record Release

We are psyched to be playing the Clockwork 7" release show. Those guys are not just awesome musicians but some of our favorite people. In fact, pretty much every band on this show is comprised of our friends. Should be awesome, come out!

One Show Scrapped, Two Shows Added

Alright, Fall is in full swing and we are gearing back up. We were supposed to get back to Grand Rapids, our home away from home on November 19, but there were some issues with the venue so that show got nixed. Hopefully we can get that rescheduled soon. In better news, our good friends in Clockwork have a 7" coming out and we are playing the record release show December 3rd in Royal Oak. Also playing are our pals in Homelife and Sunlight Ascending. That will be sweet. In addition, we are playing December 14th with Deathbed from Atlanta. They are pretty much like Foundation Jr. Come get your pre-Christmas shopping mash on. Most importantly, we are really close to being able to announce details regarding the release of our new e.p. "To the Ends of the Earth". We're psyched. Finally, this Saturday Xerxes is playing Hybrid Moments in Ferndale with Shudders, Old Soul, and Light Years. Don't be a dork, be there. Peep the flyer below.

Movement....

So a lot has been happening. The babies have arrived. Aaron & Candice had their baby girl Francis and Steph & I had our baby boy Asher. We joked all summer about how insane it would be if we ended up at the hospital together, and as it turned out, that's exactly what happened. It ruled. In other news, we got the final mix back from Jay yesterday so we should be lining up mastering in the next few weeks here for the new record. We're going to put one of the songs on a Midwest hardcore comp that Mike at Lost Time Records is putting together. We're pretty stoked about it (see flyer). Next week we start practicing again. Alex is sitting on a couple of new songs, I know we're all itching to start putting those together. Otherwise, Justice Records is closing soon and their second to last show will be next Friday, September 16th. Steve's other band Tharsis They is playing, as well as our good friends in Under Anchor, Old Soul, The Oily Menace, and Shudders. Rorik Brooks is an amazing person who has done a lot for us and for Michigan hardcore as a whole, so if you are free, go see some amazing bands and buy some stuff from Rorik before things wind down.

Show Next Weekend....Flyer Posted

Just a reminder that we are playing our last show for a little bit next Sunday and it should be awesome. We get to jam with Foundation, Harm's Way, Dead Icons and Face Reality. The show got moved from the Metal Frat to the Magic Stick Lounge. Also, it is now a matinee, 3:00 p.m. We go on first so get there early if you wanna catch our set. While we're not playing shows for a couple months, we WILL be busy figuring out how we are going to release the 4 songs we recorded last month. As of now we are leaning towards a one-sided 12". So we'll be figuring out layout stuff and trying to see if anyone wants to help us release it. If not, we'll be saving up our pennies to do it ourselves. Either way, we would love for the record to be out by year's end. We'll see. At any rate, there are a ridiculous amount of great shows happening in Michigan right now; we would recommend the following:
August 13th at the Atlas Bar in Hamtramck-Goddamn reunion with Wells, End Trails and Shudders, a new band with our friends Scott and Dylan
August 26th at Trestain's House-Chris's 30th birthday bash, Let It Die reunion, Louder Than Bombs, etc. plus sumo wrestling and bounce houses. Get rowdy!
September 5th at Old Jamestown in Saginaw-Wolves in the Throne Room, Thou, Cloud Rat, Beast in the Field, and Isenblast
Also, our friend Andrew is also reportedly doing a couple shows at Refuge in Dearborn. August 6th will probably be Raindance (ex-Outrage) and September 1st is Devotion (ex-Go It Alone). Keep your eyes and ears peeled for deets on those.
Anyway, I'm sure we will see you at some of these jams, if not next Sunday.
Hearts,
Scobie/Rev

Between Earth and Sky

If there is one thing our band is not shy about, it's our love for Trial, and their frontman Greg Bennick. For the past couple of years Greg has been involved in a band called Between Earth and Sky. They've released a couple songs, and to my knowledge have played very few; if any, shows. They certainly have not toured. At any rate, their new record "Of Roots and Wings" is out now on Refuse Records from Poland. We highly recommend tracking down a copy (it is being released in the US soon I believe). In the meantime, here is a mediafire link. I highly recommend you download this thing and give it your undivided attention. It is more melodic than Trial, but Bennick's philosophical lyrics are no less potent this time around, and it is invigorating to hear his voice again. THE MAAS-MAN COMETH!

well, really, we went to him, then he came downstairs and recorded us! if you know not of what i speak, we went to boston last wednesday thru saturday to record 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH', 4 songs which will be released someday on some format. after sir jimmy lawson hookethed up the converter allowing us to watch great hits in the van such as jurassic park 2 and 3, we were off in the middle of the night to yonder new england to eat great vegan pizzas, make crude jokes, create new nicknames, and of course, lay down our trax!

working with jay maas was a pleasure! not only has he worked with some of our favorite bands (shipwreck, bane, defeater, etc) but he's a man with an uncanny ear and ability to help our cause. thus far, we only have a rough mix, but we're all really pumped on how things are sounding! once we give jay a few more things for the mix he'll work his magic then its on to mastering and hopefully pressing. I think we're shooting to have this out by late fall...we'll see. for those unaware, this release is lyrically centered around eric's struggle with his eldest son who's autistic. we've really tried to capture in the music some of his raw emotion put forth in the lyrics. so be on the lookout for this!

besides the FOUNDATION, HARM'S WAY, FACE REALITY show we're playing July 24, nothing much is on the docket. mid august will mark the arrival of a son or daughter for eric and myself and we expect to be adjusting to newly appointed parenthood (well, new for me) for a little while. though there are some talks of a 4 day run going down in late october....we'll keep you posted, or, we'll post, and hopefully you'll notice it. until next time....

love, aaron.

Our Record is Out!

I never really anticipated that getting a record out would be so time-consuming and filled with so many weird twists and turns. That said, I couldn't be more psyched to say our split 7" with our good friends in They Come in Waves is finally out! They are an incredible band, great guys, and they put in a ton of work to get this thing done. Above you can see how spiffy it came out. You can kick it old school and pick up a copy at our record release show this Sunday at Genesis in Royal Oak. Or, you can get all 21st century and order one online....we decided since we now have a legit release, we should try to sell a few copies so we set up a webstore. There is a new link off to the right that will take you there. So excited, can't wait to be able to share this with people.

Clawson Jams

Above is the flyer for the show in Clawson with Sunlight Ascending. It's next Friday, come hang out. Tomorrow vocals are getting done for pre-production. Pressure's on, Sir Whitty. Thursday night you should be at the Magic Stick. Defeater is playing. Other reeeeally good bands are playing too, but really Defeater, c'mon kids, they are incredible. Lastly, the split 7" with They Come in Waves should actually be out soon. For real this time. We promise.

Michigan Mini Weekend

Next month we are going north to play a couple shows. Saturday April 16th with They Come in Waves and a bunch of our other good friends at Justice Records on Record Store Day. Pumped! Steve will be playing 3 sets that night. Bring him a cliff bar and an energy drink. The next day we will (finally) be making the trek to Traverse City to play with most of the bands from the show at Justice plus Fight it Out. Thanks to McKaig for hooking us up with this show, sorry it took us so long to make it work. The flyer for that jam is up there. Okay that's all.

new songs, new things, news.

Hi ya'll! Busy times these days for the REV and beyond! As you may have read below, we're jumping on the road for 4 nights with Under Anchor in March, we're pumped as hell for that! If you happen to catch us Sunday, March 13 in Toledo, we'll be playing all non-demo songs, 1 of which we'll be playing for the 1st time, a second we'll be playing for only the 2nd time! so that rules! We officially have 10 songs now! Post-tour we hope to lay down some pre-production demos of the 3 songs for our future 7" TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH. Final versions of these songs will be recorded in June with Jay Maas of Defeater fame! Other things coming up, WELLS' first show in Toledo (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=178300222213369) and Steve has a show with THEY COME IN WAVES (http://theycomeinwaves.tumblr.com/) Feb. 26th in GR! MIHC is a well-oiled machine (thanks to the Oily Menace) and is running smoothly lately. Hope to see you in the near future!

I love it when good people form bands again....

Yo, so Rob Pennington's bands are forever under-appreciated. His band By the Grace of God still stands as one of my favorites ever, and were the best band Victory ever put out in my opinion (on second thought, they're probably tied with Snapcase in my book). Then he did Black Widows which became Black Cross who put out incredible records on Initial, EVR, and Auxiliary. Well I just read that the core of those bands (which also features Ryan Patterson from Coliseum and Nick Thienemann of Young Widows) is back in full effect as Black God. Sonically continuing in the trajectory they were going down when they fell off the map, rest assured this band rules. They have a 7" coming out on No Idea supposedly. Do yourself a favor and check out their Facebook page here. While you're there please bug them to come to Michigan.
Thanks,
Scobie

Final Dire Wolf Show

I am psyched to announce we were asked to play the final Dire Wolf show. They are some awesome guys and we're stoked to be with them as they rock the Frat one last time. Also playing are our good friends in Damages, Face Reality, and the 'Bution. Most importantly, the show is a benefit for a couple of groups providing medical relief in Haiti, organized by a group called 100 shows for Haiti, which is led by among other people Greg Bennick (current Between Earth and Sky, ex-Trial). I think I speak for all of us when I say it's an honor to be affiliated with anything Greg has his hands on. Our friend Moe from Cipher is also involved in this project. So anyway, great bands, great cause, we'll see you on the 29th!

This is what our record will look like...

Below is the cover art for our split with Waves. They should be putting the finishing touches on their song soon. We are hoping for an early spring release.
